👔 What makes a good leader an EXCELLENT leader? RESPECT 🌟
EXCELLENT leaders practice R-E-S-P-E-C-T! Respect is a positive feeling or action shown towards someone or something that is considered important, or held in high esteem or regard; it conveys a sense of admiration for good or valuable qualities; and it is also the process of honoring someone by exhibiting care, concern, or consideration for their needs or feelings. It is you who creates an environment where respect is not only encouraged, it is necessary for individuals and teams to flourish and grow. 🌱💪
rEspect — Empathy
Empathy is the capacity to understand or feel what another person is experiencing from within the other person’s frame of reference, i.e., the capacity to place oneself in another’s position. Having empathy is not just a sign of emotional intelligence; it also supports individuals on the team and provides a safe environment. 🤝🌍
reSpect — Support
Support is to agree with and give encouragement because you want them to succeed. With support comes confidence building and positive well-being for one to be the best that they can be, knowing that someone does not only have their back but believes in them. 🙌💖
resPect — Patience
Patience is having the capacity to accept or tolerate delay, trouble, or suffering without getting angry or upset. Knowing we all learn best by doing, it is important to recognize that everyone has a different way of learning. Having the ability to let go and not control each and every step of one’s understanding or way of doing things is having patience so that a person can learn, “skin their knee” and move on to become a more knowledgeable person. 🎓⌛
respEct — Empowerment
Empowerment increases the degree of autonomy and self-determination in people and in communities. Empowerment is probably one of the most important attributes a leader can give to their teams and individuals. I was given the “keys to the car” early in my career and it made me the confident and reflecting person that I am today. You need to let go and let individuals drive and take ownership — ownership creates pride and pride creates great things. 🚗🗝️
respeCt — Coach
Coach is the act to give instruction or advice. To coach is to mentor; to mentor is to teach; to teach is to develop someone to their fullest potential. As a leader, one must look for those “coaching” moments of truth where you can provide constructive feedback and praise for personal and team growth. 📚👩🏫
respecT — Transparent
Transparent is having thoughts, feelings, or motives that are easily seen. Living life with transparency is the only way to live. Bringing one’s true self to work and not hiding who you are shows your true authentic self to others. It creates a trusted environment if you are a non-judgmental person, and it will create a strong happiness factor for others. 🌈🤗
